and 600 Disc CD Libraries
New York, NY (April 15,1997) -- JVC Professional Computer Products Division today announced the availability of the industry's newest high capacity CD Library Jukeboxes.
The MC-1200 and MC-1600 systems have been uniquely designed to address the critical performance and reliability demands of the LAN environment. The models establish new price-performance standards combining high-speed performance, interchangeability and unparalleled reliability features.
"The new MC series combine over 30 years of robotics experience and technology from JVC. Our goal was to achieve a unique balance of performance, reliability and pricing for network CD mass storage applications," commented Jack Moran, Marketing Manager of JVC. The models can be configured with up to 6 drives (CD-ROM and/or CD-R). Other key features include; 8x speed player performance, tray-based disc loading, CD mail slot, and 50 disc interchangeable magazines.
The units are housed in airtight-cabinets with internal air-filtration systems to limit dust or particulate levels in the jukebox. Additional reliability features include; MSBF over 1,000,000 cycles, guide-rail-system for precise CD changer positioning and a Diagnostics mode for local or remote dial-up (RS232) access.
The suggested retail pricing for the systems begin at $12,295 for the MC-1200 and $15,995 for the MC-1600. The systems are immediately available nationwide through industry leading Distributors and resellers to include: Archway Technologies, Law Cypress Distributing, New Wave Technologies, Optical Laser, Promark Technology East and Todd Enterprises. Please contact JVC for additional authorized Distributors and resellers.
In conjunction with the Libraries availability, initial software support for network data management is also being announced by Q-Star Technologies, Smart Storage Inc. and Tracer Technologies Inc. Across these leading software vendors, the MC series is supported on a variety of platforms including: Windows NT, Netware, IBM (AIX) and a range of UNIX platform O/S support: HP (UX), Sun Solaris, SGI (IRIX), and DEC. Additional software support from other industry vendors is currently being developed.
